Tracy and Allison Stilwell, known as the Artgirlz, are sisters. They are funny, irreverent, and smart, with a lot more to them than meets the eye. These two lighthearted women with the artsy outfits and unique haircuts are also seriously talented artists and hard-working business women.
When they were young, the six-year age difference was enormous, but later, when both women had grown up, married, had children and divorced, the bonds changed and grew. They began to collaborate, exhibiting and selling their work. Tracy moved California to Rhode Island where she and Allison could share a studio. Before they were known as Artgirlz, the two were known as the Weird Sisters, doing unusual edgy work like goddess dolls and raw-edged quilts long before either became a trend.
They began with handmade pins, but soon started to design and sell creative components. If you are interested in making jewelry, ornaments, dolls, cards, journals or other paper crafts, or mixed media art, you will love all of the Artgirlz products. It is a constantly changing array of papers, fabric, wool felt cones, die cut wool felt shapes and wool felt beads, fibers, pewter charms, rubber stamps - everything meant to encourage creativity, everything meant to mix and combine. And they still make the wonderful irreverent pins. The two sisters remain creative collaborators, only now they are business partners as well.
You never know what they will come up with next, so visit often!
